Highway 1 closed near Golden due to vehicle incident

On December 10, 2025, at approximately 6:22 a.m., Golden RCMP responded to a report of a multi-vehicle incident on Highway 1 east of Golden. A semi truck and trailer spun out and crossed the barrier blocking all four lanes on Highway 1. That semi truck was then struck by a second semi truck as well as a car.

Investigators have determined that the snowy weather played a significant role in the incident.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries in this incident, but the highway was closed for some time,” says Cpl. Brett Urano RCMP spokesperson. “The highway is closed in both directions due to the vehicle incident and avalanche control.”

The Golden-Field RCMP request that people be mindful of road conditions before heading out and drive relative to the conditions. We also advise the public to check DriveBC (English only) for the most current road conditions and updates for this incident.
