Officers responded to a report of a suspected break and enter at a car dealership in Hope. Upon arrival, two suspects were observed running from the area. One man was arrested, while the second suspect was not located. The arrested man’s vehicle was located nearby and was seized for further investigation. The man is expected to appear in court at a later date.
An officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving unusually slowly on 6th Avenue in Hope. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was noted to have a strong odour of liquor on their breath. Roadside screening resulted in an Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP), and the vehicle was towed.
In the early morning hours, an officer was conducting roadside sobriety checks on Flood Hope Road. A vehicle was stopped with a woman driver who identified herself as the designated driver for her friends. The driver failed roadside screening and was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition. Her vehicle was impounded.
While on patrol on Flood Hope Road, an officer observed a motorcycle without a licence plate, with the rider not wearing a helmet. A roadside stop was conducted, and the rider was found to be prohibited from driving and unlicensed. The rider claimed the vehicle was an e‑motorcycle and did not require a driver’s licence. However, this was quickly disproven as the motorcycle did not meet the legal requirements of an e‑bike. The motorcycle was impounded for seven days, and a violation ticket was issued.
An officer patrolling the Trans‑Canada Highway near Hope observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Radar confirmed the vehicle was travelling at 144 km/h. During the roadside stop, the officer observed the driver quickly switch seats with a passenger. Police queries revealed the seat switch was likely due to the original driver being prohibited from driving. The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and a speeding ticket was issued.
A roadside stop was attempted on a speeding motorcycle on 6th Avenue in Hope. Prior to the stop, the motorcycle was observed attempting to race another motorcycle. The rider fled from police and crashed a short distance away. The motorcycle sustained damage; however, the rider was not injured. As the rider attempted to restart the motorcycle and flee again, he was arrested. An impaired driving investigation was conducted, resulting in an Immediate Roadside Prohibition, along with violation tickets for excessive speeding and street racing. The motorcycle was impounded.
Police received a report of an attempted theft in Boston Bar. Unknown individuals were reported to have climbed a utility pole in an attempt to cut and steal copper wire. The suspects were unsuccessful in their attempt and left the area, abandoning climbing gear and tools. Several thousand dollars in damage was reported.
