Explosives, guns, and firearms manufacturing equipment for building firearms were seized during a Kamloops investigation which brought the Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) into Chase last week.
The ongoing investigation, which began earlier this year, made its presence known on Tuesday April 22, 2025, when members of the TEU executed a search warrant at a Third Avenue residence in Chase. With support from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and Chase RCMP, police seized multiple firearms, body armour, ammunition, explosives, and a 3D printer with associated accessories, used in the illegal manufacturing of guns.
“Over the past few months, our TEU has undertaken a comprehensive, intelligence-led investigation aimed at severing one of the supply chains of illicit firearms in our community,” said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Officer in Charge. “This project involved a multi‑phased enforcement and collaborate approach to impact violence involving firearms, which have been instrumental in fueling the local drug trade conflict over the past year.”
During last week’s search warrant execution, chemical irritants were deployed due to the high-risk nature of the operation. Residents in the area were advised of the possible presence of a distinct odour, which may cause minor irritation, but is not harmful. A police presence remained on scene throughout the day and included attendance by the Explosive Disposal Unit.
“We appreciate the community’s support and understanding during our presence in the area,” said Sergeant Kevin McIntyre of the Kamloops TEU. “This enforcement action is expected to significantly disrupt illegal firearms trafficking and reduce gun violence throughout the Thompson and Okanagan districts. Our officers have been working tirelessly to enhance community safety across the Kamloops region, regardless of where the suspects may be located.”
No one was injured during the search warrants execution. The investigation is ongoing with charge recommendations anticipated.
