Kamloops RCMP frontline officers and Police Dog Services responded to a report of a gun at school, which led to a lockdown.
On November 6, 2025, just before 2:00 p.m. police received a report of a person in a school with a gun, which prompted the lockdown of Norkam Secondary and surrounding schools.
“Out of an abundance of caution the nearby schools were kept on a hold and secure until police could gather more information related to the call,” said Corporal Dana Napier Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “We are working with our School District 73 partners throughout this incident.”
At approximately 3:20 p.m. nearby schools were released and the hold and secure was cancelled. Norkam Secondary was then put on a hold and secure as officers in the area were present while students were united with parents and arrangements were made to get them home.
This continues to be an active investigation, anyone with information is asked to please call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and city file 2025-37145. The Kamloops RCMP would like to thank the public for their cooperation and patience.
