Police arrest suspect in attempted shooting

Kamloops RCMP frontline police along with the help of Police Dog Services have safely arrested an alleged suspect in a shooting attempt earlier this morning.
At approximately 6:10 a.m. on December 8, 2025, police responded to a report of shots fired near the 700-block of Notre Dame Drive. Multiple frontline police arrived in the area and were supported by Police Dog Services. Police quickly located the alleged suspect and took him into custody. The firearm used in the offence was located by police dog Nikka and recovered.
“Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, as no gunshot round was discharged,” said Corporal Dana Napier Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please call.”
Charge recommendations are anticipated. As this investigation is in the early stages there is no further information to share at this time. Anyone with video footage or who may have observed this incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-40529.
