Kamloops RCMP investigating stabbing
A Kamloops man remains in custody this morning after allegedly stabbing a Good Samaritan on Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday February 25, 2026, frontline members of the Kamloops RCMP were called to a residence in the 1800-block of Parkcrest Ave for a report of an assault with a weapon.
Upon arrival, police learned that a 27-year-old man had gotten into a physical altercation with a family member. A neighbour, who is known to both individuals, heard the disturbance and attempted to intervene, at which point he was stabbed.
“The suspect retreated to a trailer on the property and barricaded himself inside,” states Staff Sergeant Janelle Shoihet, of the Kamloops RCMP. “Following a short negotiation, the suspect surrendered to police and was taken into custody.”
The suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear in the Kamloops Provincial court later today.
The victim, a 55-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information who has not already spoken with police, is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-5751.
