At approximately 4:30 a.m. on March 11, 2026, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 600‑block of Seymour Street. Upon arrival, police located an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. A police medic immediately provided emergency medical care, and the man was transported to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation. Based on the evidence available at this early stage, police believe the incident was targeted. No arrests have been made.
Although the initial crime scene has been released, investigators will remain in the area throughout the day conducting follow‑up, canvassing for witnesses, and gathering additional evidence.
In consultation with the family, police are identifying the victim as Emmanual “Manny” Brooks. A photo of Mr. Brooks is being released to assist with the ongoing investigation.
“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has information that could assist investigators, to please contact police,” said Staff Sergeant Kevin McIntyre. “We are also interested in hearing from anyone with video surveillance or dash‑cam footage from the surrounding area during the early‑morning hours.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment and reference file 2026‑7304.
