Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit investigating fatal assault

On January 24, 2026, at approximately 8:20 pm, Kelowna RCMP responded to an assault between two groups of individuals near Springfield Road and Benvoulin Road.
Police located an 18-year-old male suffering from life threatening injuries. BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) transported the individual to Kelowna General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation and is actively examining the circumstances leading up to the death.
“The investigation is in its initial stages and appears to have been a targeted incident,” says Corporal Steven Lang, Kelowna RCMP Media Relations Officer. “No further details will be released at this time.”
