The Kelowna RCMP would like to invite the public to two upcoming fraud prevention and education seminars being held in Kelowna next week. The Bank of Canada, City of Kelowna, Downtown Kelowna Association and Seniors Outreach and Resource Centre have collaborated to make the two upcoming sessions possible.

On March 9, 2026, the Downtown Kelowna Association is hosting the Business Frauds and Scams event at 1460 Pandosy Street from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The business focused seminar will feature RCMP Pacific Regional Corporal Vinh Ngo, Anna Hardy from the Bank of Canada and Neesha Hothi from the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Topics covered include emerging fraud trends, business related scams and counterfeit currency including banknote authentication. Registration and presenter details can be found on the event registration page

On March 10, 2026, the Seniors Outreach and Resource Centre is hosting the Senior Fraud Prevention and Awareness seminar at the Trinity Church’s Family Room, located at 1905 Springfield Road, from 10 am to 12 pm. The seminar, which is targeted to seniors, will feature RCMP Pacific Regional Corporal Vinh Ngo and Anna Hardy from the Bank of Canada. Topics covered include how criminals are targeting potential victims, top frauds affecting seniors and spotting counterfeit cash. “The upcoming seminars are a great way for the public to be informed with fraud trends that effect the community,” says Corporal Steven Lang, Kelowna RCMP Media Relations Officer. “Thanks to the community partners who came together to put on the sessions.”

Both sessions are free of charge and advanced registration is required.
