Update: Charges approved from Kelowna RCMP Proactive Enforcement Unit seizure

In March 2025, Kelowna RCMP’s Proactive Enforcement Unit (PEU) executed a search warrant in support of an ongoing drug trafficking and firearms possession investigation. While executing the warrant PEU officers located and seized weapons and a small quantity of illicit drugs.
A 41-year-old woman and 25-year-old man were arrested by police and later released pending further investigation.
One year later, charges have approved against Lindsey Smith and Austin Pedersen of Kelowna.
Smith faces:
- Two counts of possession of prohibited or restricted firearm and ammunition without a licence / registration.
- One count of possession of prohibited device without a licence.
- One count of possession of a firearm while prohibited.
- One count of possession of ammunition while prohibited.
- One count of possession of a prohibited device while prohibited.
Pedersen faces:
- One count of possession of prohibited or restricted firearm without a licence / registration.
- One count of possession of a firearm while prohibited.
- One count of possession of ammunition while prohibited.
Smith and Pedersen are currently being held in custody awaiting bail hearings.
