The British Columbia Highway Patrol (BCHP), in partnership with ICBC and the Kelowna RCMP Road Safety Unit, is pleased to bring back the Motorcycle Skills Challenge to Kelowna on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Building on the success of last year's event, the annual challenge will take place at a new location: the ICBC Claims Centre, 1720 Springfield Road.
During last year's inaugural event, attended by approximately 40 riders, participants had the opportunity to enhance their motorcycle safety skills and expand their rider education. This year's attendees can expect a series of challenging cone courses designed to simulate real-world riding scenarios. The exercises will allow riders to test and refine their abilities in maneuvering, braking and obstacle avoidance, all under the guidance of experienced police motorcycle officers.
“The goal of the Skills Challenge is to promote motorcycle safety while encouraging riders to practice techniques they can apply during everyday riding,” says Staff Sergeant Kyle Ushock, a participant of last years event and experienced police motorcycle operator. “It was encouraging to see participants of all skill levels, from seasoned veterans to those who had recently passed their ICBC road tests.”
The Motorcycle Skills Challenge provides riders with a safe and controlled environment to build confidence, develop advanced riding techniques and reinforce safe riding habits.
