Kelowna RCMP Target Team investigates problem residence, seizes weapons and drugs

In early July 2026, the Kelowna RCMP Target Team initiated an investigation into a problem residence located within a seniors' housing complex in the 800-block of Jones Street. The investigation was initiated following concerning reports from community members, which were supported by police observations in the neighbourhood.
Police allege that the occupants of the unit were contributing to significant public safety concerns and were not complying with City of Kelowna property standards. Investigators also observed a high volume of foot traffic entering and leaving the residence.
On July 18, 2026, the Target Team, with assistance from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at the residence. During the search, officers located several weapons, including an unsecured 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, as well as quantities of controlled substances.
One individual found inside the unit was arrested on an outstanding British Columbia-wide warrant. The City of Kelowna Property Standards Compliance Team remains engaged regarding several deficiencies and bylaw violations identified at the property.
The police investigation remains ongoing.
“Police operations initiated in response to concerns reported by the public not only support criminal and bylaw investigations but also help make our communities safer and allow residents to better enjoy their properties,” says Sergeant Guillaume Tanguay, of the Kelowna RCMP Proactive Enforcement Unit. “We encourage residents to continue reporting suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.”
