Haisla Blvd excessive speed

On September 26th, at approximately 10:48 am, while conducting routine patrols along Haisla Blvd, a Kitimat RCMP officer noticed a vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer activated their radar unit and found the vehicle was travelling 101 km/h in the posted 60 km/h speed zone. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed. The vehicle was also impounded for 7 days. (2025-3223)

Intoxicated in public

A report of a possibly intoxicated male walking in the roadway near Lahakas Blvd and Nalabila Blvd was received by the Kitimat RCMP detachment at 9:26 pm on September 27th. The investigating officers attended the area and located a male that matched the provided description.  Emergency health services were contacted who confirmed the male was okay. He was arrested for causing a disturbance by being intoxicated in public and transported to the Kitimat RCMP detachment cells. The male was released the following morning without charge. (2025-3242)

Highway 37 single vehicle collision

The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision near the 3200 block of Highway 37 at 8:20 am on September 28th. Once on scene, the investigating officer found that the vehicle was travelling north bound along Highway 37 and drove off road right into the ditch. The single occupant of the vehicle was on scene and checked by emergency health services, confirming there was no injuries. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention. (2025-3260)

Broken window reported

A property representative for a building located on the 1200 block of Kingfisher Ave attended the Kitimat RCMP detachment on September 29th to report a mischief that occurred. Once the damage, a broken door window, was found, a review of CCTV footage showed an unknown male attempted to enter the building, however once unable to enter, kicked the door at approximately 3:00 am on the same date.  This matter is still under investigation. If you saw anything suspicious in the area at this time, please contact the Kitimat RCMP at 250-632-7111 and cite file number 2025-3270.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Dinner

On September 30ᵗʰ, 4 officers from the Kitimat RCMP had the honour of being in attendance at the Reconciliation dinner hosted by Tamitik Status of women at Riverlodge. The officers assisted by serving dinner to the members of the Kitamaat village and Kitimat residents in attendance. The ceremonies held were very powerful and so very important to ensure they are not forgotten and to help with the healing that is needed.
