90-day IRP issued 

On February 12th at 4:26 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Minette Bay Road. It was stated that the driver appeared to be passed out in the vehicle. The investigating officers attended and located the vehicle, which was found to be uninsured. An investigation into the impaired operation of motor vehicle was initiated. The driver provided two breath samples, both with a failed result. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for no insurance. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2026-460)

Several reports of theft from vehicles received 

The Kitimat RCMP received three thefts from vehicle reports on February 15th. The first report was made at 6:18 am where it was stated a vehicle parked at a residence in the Whitesail neighborhood overnight. Personal items were taken from the vehicle. CCTV footage was provided and attempts to identify the suspect are being made. The second report made was regarding a vehicle that was parked on the 200 block of City Centre. This vehicle was also entered and several items were taken. The third vehicle, which was parked on the 400 block of City Centre, was entered and had items taken. CCTV footage is being sought and reviewed to identify a suspect.   The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind all residents to ensure their vehicles are locked and not to leave items of value in vehicles. Two vehicle collision on Highway 37

During the morning commute, at 7:00 am on February 16th, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 37 near the Kitimat River Bridge. The responding officers attended found Emergency Health Services already on scene assessing one of the drivers. Luckly, both drivers were found to be uninjured. Both vehicles were towed from the scene with only minor delays on the highway. (2026-496)

Single vehicle collision leads to 3-day IRP

A single vehicle collision was reported to the Kitimat RCMP while the officers were on scene of the initial collision near the Kitimat River Bridge on February 16th when a second collision, further south along Highway 37, was reported at 9:31 am. An officer attended and located a single vehicle that had driven off the roadway, entering the ditch. The investigator initiated an impaired operation of a vehicle investigation, and a sample of breath was provided by the driver. The driver was issued a 3-day immediate driving prohibition. The vehicle was recovered from the ditch and impounded. (2026-498)

Vehicle vs pole collision

On February 17th at 10:29 am, the driver of a vehicle attended the Kitimat RCMP detachment to report that while parking their vehicle in a near by parking lot on the 500 block of Mountainview Square, they had struck a light pole.  The driver stated that as they were pulling forward, they looked over at another vehicle in the mirror and accidently struck the pole. The investigation officer attend and the vehicle was found to have cosmetic damage to the front of the vehicle but was able to be driven from the scene. The pole received a small dent. (2026-508)

Gun VS Hoses Charity Hockey game 

This Saturday, February 21st, the Tamitik Arena doors open at 6:00 pm, for the Kitimat RCMP and Kitimat Fire Department to hit the ice for the annual Guns & Hoses game. Puck drop will be at 7:00 pm. Come watch some good, fun hockey all while supporting a great cause for our community. All money raised will go to the Kitimat Fire Ladder of Hope charity which ensures all funds stay local to assist nonprofit organizations. Bring your family and friends, donate to get a seat and enjoy the evening!
