3 day driving prohibition issued

On March 6th at 2:30 am, a Kitimat RCMP officer on routine patrol along Haisla Blvd conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, the officer initiated an impaired operation of motor vehicle investigation. The driver provided two samples of their breath into two separate approved screening devices. Both test were a warn, resulting in the driver being issued a 3-day immediate roadside driving prohibition. (2026-712)

Loud music leads to driving prohibition 

The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a vehicle playing very loud music on the 700 block of Kuldo Blvd at 4:11 am on March 8th. The investigating officer attended and found the vehicle causing the disturbance. The cause a disturbance investigation quickly turned into an investigation into impaired operation of the vehicle. The driver provided two samples of their breath; both results were a ‘fail’. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 911 hang up call leads police to collision scene

At approximately 9:54 am on March 10th, the Kitimat RCMP was alerted to a 911 hang up call from a cellular phone that was mapping near Oolichan Ave on Highway 37, north of Kitimat. The investigating officers attended the area and were able to quickly locate a vehicle that had been involved in a collision and rolling over onto it’s roof. It was confirmed that this was the location of the 911 hang up call.  The two occupants were assisted out of the vehicle and checked over by emergency health services and were luckily uninjured. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind all drivers to drive carefully as road conditions can change very quickly on our highways this time of the year. (2026-764)

Report of hit and run 

A report of a hit and run to a parked vehicle was received by the Kitimat RCMP via the online reporting system on March 16th. It was reported that the vehicle was parked at a residence on Liard St and sometime between March 15th at 11:00 pm and 1:30 am on March 16th. It appears that an unknown vehicle drove through the snow and struck the frontend of the vehicle causing damages. If you have any information regarding this hit and run, please contact the Kitimat RCMP and quote file number 2026-800002. Fight report leads to arrest and bail hearing 

On March 15th at 1:47 pm, the Kitimat RCMP was called to the 200 block of City Centre for a report of a fight in progress. The investigating officers attended to find that the fight was no longer on going. The officers recognized a male on scene and was aware that he was on conditions not to be at that address. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Kitimat RCMP detachment and lodged into cells. While being transported, the male proceeded to cause damages to the rear of the police vehicle, resulting in further charges. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing and remanded for a future hearing date to answer to the charges of fail to comply with an order and mischief under $5000. (2026-809)

Theft from vehicle 

On March 18th, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a theft from a vehicle that occurred on March 17th at approximately 7:30 pm. It was reported that the vehicle was parked in a parking lot in the 100 block of City Centre. The vehicle had only been left for a very short period; however, an unknown person(s) had entered the vehicle and stolen property. The investigation into this is ongoing and several CCTV cameras are being checked to see if the theft has been captured. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind all drivers to secure their vehicles, even if they are leaving them for a short period of time. It is also important to report these thefts to the RCMP so that crime trends can be accurately tracked and sometimes the movements of suspects can be important for other files. (2026-849)
