Traffic Blitz Targets Speeding in Langley

Over the past few days the Langley RCMP traffic unit conducted a targeted traffic enforcement blitz aimed at reducing speeding and improving road safety throughout the community. Officers focused their efforts on areas with a high number of speeding complaints and collisions.
During the enforcement initiative, officers issued:
- 48 traffic tickets Issued
- 56 total violations Identified
- 5 excessive speed violations, resulting in a 7-day vehicle impoundment
- 1 Immediate roadside prohibition, resulting in a driving prohibition and vehicle impoundment
- 39 drivers were ticketed for travelling 21 km/h or more over the posted speed limit.
Enforcement was concentrated in several high-complaint areas, including:
• 208 Street
• 16 Avenue
• 56 Avenue
“Speeding continues to be one of the leading contributing factors in serious and fatal collisions", said Constable Meghan Marsden, media relations officer for the Langley RCMP. "Our officers will continue to conduct targeted enforcement in areas where dangerous driving behaviours are reported to help keep everyone on our roads safe.”
The Langley RCMP thanks the many drivers who obey the rules of the road and encourages everyone to slow down, stay alert, and make safe choices behind the wheel.
