Maple Ridge RCMP continues to combat drug trafficking in Maple Ridge and targeting those individuals preying on the most vulnerable in our community.
From specialized teams to Frontline and Traffic sections, officers are taking a very proactive approach to disrupting the sale and distribution of illicit drugs and open drug use in our community.
Here is a summary of some of the activity undertaken by officers over the past few weeks:
- On March 25, 2026, Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and Street Enforcement Unit (SEU) officers conducted targeted enforcement of drug traffickers in the downtown core. Officers made multiple arrests and disrupted multiple drug lines seizing approximately 134 grams of suspected meth, 32 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 24 grams of suspected fentanyl, and over $2,000 in cash. Over 700 total doses of illicit drugs were removed from street as a result.
- On March 21, 2026, Frontline officers were conducting proactive patrols when they located a male using drugs on the side of the road. The male was arrested under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and a search incidental to the arrest located drugs, knives (including a switch blade) and stolen credit cards. The male was also breaching his conditions and transported to cells to be held for court.
- On March 20, 2026, Road Safety Target Team (RSTT) officers conducted a traffic stop on a driver for having no insurance. The subsequent stop led to the driver being arrested under the CDSA and having his vehicle searched. Ten baggies of suspected cocaine and one ounce of suspected cannabis was seized. The vehicle was also impounded and multiple violations tickets issued.
- On March 20, 2026, SEU officers were conducting surveillance and proactive enforcement in downtown Maple Ridge when they located a 20-year-old male actively trafficking drugs out of a vehicle. An arrest was made and approximately 27 grams of prepackaged suspected cocaine and crack cocaine along with cash was seized. The investigation is ongoing. Over 50 total doses of illicit drugs removed were from street as a result.
- On March 7, 2026, SEU officers arrested a 22-year-old male suspect for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking illicit drugs. SEU officers began the investigation in response to a complaint made by the community regarding a suspect allegedly selling drugs to high school students outside a residence in Maple Ridge. During a subsequent search, approximately one pound of illicit cannabis was found on the suspect. A further search warrant was later executed on the suspect’s residence where approximately fifteen pounds of illicit cannabis, thousands of dollars of cash, and other evidence of drug trafficking were seized. The investigation is ongoing as officers continue to process exhibits and submit disclosure packages to Crown Counsel.
“Maple Ridge RCMP takes illicit drug trafficking activities and the associated risks to public safety in our community very seriously,” says Maple Ridge RCMP SEU Sergeant Trevor Hanson. “These investigations demonstrate our commitment to being responsive to community concerns and working in alignment with our fellow officers and partner agencies to ensure residents are kept safe.”
