Police investigate suspicious death

Major Crime investigators have been called in after a woman died over the weekend.

On December 20, 2025, Merritt RCMP were called to assist BC Emergency Health Services with a woman in medical distress in the 2000-block of Nicola Avenue in Merritt. The woman, a Merritt resident in her twenties, passed away at the scene from injuries sustained. Foul play is suspected, and the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) has taken conduct of the investigation.
