The winter impaired driving campaign in Mission officially started on Saturday night, when officers alongside volunteers from the Mission Crime Prevention Office set up road checks around town. Here’s how it went:
- Over 1,200 vehicles were checked
- 131 drivers were required to provide samples of their breath into roadside screening devices
- 125 of those drivers passed the test
- 3 of the drivers registered “fail” readings. They received 90-day driving prohibitions and 30-day vehicle impounds
- 1 driver registered a “warn” reading, and received a 3-day driving prohibition
- 2 other drivers were issued 24-hour driving prohibitions
- 1 driver received a ticket for excessive speeding
Thank-you to everyone who made good choices to be safe and sober on the roads. Drivers should expect to see Mission RCMP conducting road checks and other increased traffic enforcement throughout the holiday season. If you see a possible impaired driver, please call 911.
