Coffee with a Cop coffee cup

The Nanaimo RCMP is pleased to invite the public to Coffee with a Cop, taking place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Country Grocer, located at 1800 Dufferin Crescent.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative that brings police officers and community members together over a cup of coffee and casual conversation. In a relaxed, welcoming setting, residents are invited to stop by, ask questions, share thoughts, or simply say hello. It’s a chance to get to know local officers as people, build connections, and have open, meaningful conversations that help strengthen trust within the community.

“Making genuine connections with the public is critical to effective policing,” said Inspector Donovan Tait, Operations Officer with the Nanaimo RCMP. “Events like Coffee with a Cop give people the chance to see us as real people—neighbors who live here, raise our families here, and proudly call Nanaimo home. Those face‑to‑face conversations help build trust and understanding, which ultimately makes our community safer and stronger.”

“Police officers must be willing to step out of their vehicles and engage directly with the community to better understand local concerns. Coffee with a Cop provides that opportunity in an approachable and welcoming environment.” Said Superintendent Eric Rochette, Officer in Charge of the Nanaimo RCMP.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact the Nanaimo RCMP Community Policing Section at 250‑734‑5445.

We look forward to seeing you there and sharing a cup of coffee.
