Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a motorcycle helmet seized following an incident on Nanaimo Lakes Road, in the vicinity of Harewood Mines Road. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 PM on April 12, 2026. 

Police observed an unregistered white and orange dirt bike being operated in a dangerous manner and attempted to stop it. The rider fled the area and was later seen leaving the scene on the bike, abandoning his black and white Leatt-brand helmet.

The officer involved managed to get a good look at the rider who was described as a Caucasian male youth. The helmet was seized as abandoned property.

Anyone who recognizes the helmet or has information related to this incident is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
