Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance following the theft of a shotgun from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Cameron Road. The incident occurred sometime after midnight on June 6, 2026, and 11 AM on June 6, 2026.

During the above noted time, an unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger window of a parked pickup truck and removed a Mossberg 500 Mossy Oak 12-gauge pump action shotgun. Serial number not available. The vehicle had been parked overnight near the Maritime Museum. Also taken was a blanket, believed to have been used to conceal the firearm, and a bank card. No ammunition was taken. (picture attached)

Investigators have obtained CCTV imagery of a person walking towards the vehicle at approximately 3:00 AM on June 6, 2026. This individual is described as a Caucasian man, wearing a black ball cap, black long sleeve shirt, black pants and white runners. At this point in the investigation, he is only a person of interest as he may have information that can further the investigation. (picture attached)
