Trail man dies from medical incident after single motor vehicle crash
On Friday, May 30, 2025, at 3:39 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, and EHS responded to a report of a single motor vehicle incident in the 1900 block of Highway 3B, in Trail, BC. A 65-year-old Trail man was believed to have suffered a medical emergency which rendered him unconscious while driving his vehicle.
The man was found still unconscious inside his vehicle after it left the highway and crashed into a dirt bank. The vehicle sustained minor damage; however, KBRFR had to extract the unconscious man from his vehicle. EHS transported the man to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for immediate medical intervention.
Despite valiant efforts to save the man’s life, he was pronounced deceased an hour later while in hospital.
“I would like to recognize the great teamwork and efforts of the first responders and hospital staff to try to save the man’s life. Our condolences go out to his family in this difficult time.” says Sgt. Wicentowich
Trail RCMP looking to identify two men with firearms

On Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2:33 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about two men allegedly shooting firearms in the 2600 block of McLeod Avenue, in Rossland, BC.
One man appeared to be carrying a black assault rifle and may have discharged the rifle toward a private property. The other man appeared to be in possession of a black handgun.
The first man is described at Caucasian, late 20s/early 30s, medium build, and was wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and brown boots.
The second man is described at Caucasian, late 20s/earlier 30, heavy build, with dark brown hair, and was wearing sunglasses, a red t-shirt, black pants, and brown boots.
The matter remains under investigation.

“Trail RCMP has concerns about the weapons being fired on a rural property without the necessary mindfulness on where the bullets were landing. We would like to identify both individuals to continue on with the investigation, determine the exact nature of the incident, and if a criminal offense has occurred,“ says Sgt. Wicentowich.
Trail RCMP detained man with “gun and knife”

On Friday, May 30, 2025, at 8:56 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers received a report about a 40-year-old Trail man in possession of a “gun and knife” near the intersection of Lily Street and Highway Drive, in Trail, BC.
Officers located the man and discovered he was in possession of a gun and knife shaped lighter.
The man left the area after accepting a ride with the police.
“The officers definitely felt the heat when responding to this type of call. The man realized he was playing with fire when he carried such poorly chosen shaped objects. In the end, he really only burned himself,” says Sgt. Wicentowich
Rossland teenagers approached by masked Trail man

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 5:18 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a “stranger danger” incident after a 46-year-old man with his face covered had approached two teenagers in the 4300 block of Red Mountain Road, in Rossland, BC.
The man was driving a silver 2010 Acura MDX SUV when he allegedly stopped and asked the teenagers to enter his vehicle. The man said he wanted their phone numbers and to play video games with them at his residence. The teenagers rebuffed the man’s unsolicited invitation who then left the scene. The teenagers recounted the story to a parent who contacted the Trail RCMP.
The man was described as Caucasian, approximately 50-years-old with grey hair. He was wearing sunglasses, a baseball hat, and a colourful bandana over his face.
The officer obtained video surveillance footage of the man and his vehicle. The officer conducted patrols until they located the vehicle. The officer detained the man and his vehicle roadside. After investigating, the officer apprehended the man under the Mental Health Act. The officer took the man to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for a medical assessment.
The matter remains under investigation.

Casino woman and children involved in a single motor vehicle incident

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 7:15 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report about a 31-year-old Casino woman and her three children involved a single motor vehicle incident in the 2600 block of Casino Road, in Trail, BC.
The officer attended the area and located the vehicle but not the occupants. RCMP Police Dog Services conducted a short search of the area after they were not located. The officer then learnt from a third party that the woman and her children had been driven home after the crash.
The officer attended the woman’s home and the woman at home. The woman was uninjured; however, one child was ejected from the vehicle and the other two suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. The ejected child was hospitalized overnight; however, is expected to recover fully.
The officer observed that the woman’s ability to operate a motor vehicle may have been impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the woman who provide a sample of his breath which resulted in a fail.
The 31-year-old Trail woman was issued a 24-hour Immediate Driving Prohibition and 90-day Administrative Driving Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.
Ministry of Children and Families were notified about the incident.
The matter remains under investigation.
