Police seek public assistance in identifying sexual assault suspect

Investigators are turning to the public for help to identify an alleged sexual assault suspect and are releasing a composite sketch and suspect description.

The Prince Rupert RCMP is investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred near the 1200-block of Hays Cove Avenue on January 4, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m.

The suspect fled the area and has not been identified. While not confirmed, there is information to suggest that the assault may have been targeted; however, the risk to the public remains unknown.

The suspect was described as:

  • Caucasian or Asian male, between 20 – 30 years of age
  • Approximately 6 ft 1 in (185 cm)
  • Skinny to medium build
  • Black hair extending past the ears
  • Clean shaven
  • Seen wearing a grey shirt, dark coloured jacket with star emblems and a distinct star earing

Investigators are releasing a forensic sketch of the suspect and are asking anyone who recognizes the individual, or who has information about this incident, to contact the Prince Rupert RCMP at 250-624-2136.
