Partnership between RCMP, CVSE and BC Conservation Officer Service leads to enforcement and education

Over three days, Northern Rockies RCMP officers, with assistance from Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) and the B.C. Conservation Officer Service, conducted a coordinated enforcement initiative throughout the area.

The operation, which took place between July 20 – July 22, 2026, focused on several public safety and environmental concerns, including:

• Illegal vehicle modifications and mechanical deficiencies.
• Commercial and passenger-vehicle compliance.
• Fishing regulations.
• Aquatic invasive species and
• Offroad vehicle enforcement.

During this operation, officers issued 45 violation tickets and conducted 22 vehicle inspections. Five vehicles were immediately removed from the road after they were found to be unsafe under BC’s Motor Vehicle Act.

These results show why proactive enforcement matters. Unsafe vehicles and illegal modifications can place drivers, passengers and everyone else on the road at risk. 

Fishing, invasive species and offroad vehicle regulations are just as important because they protect local waterways, wildlife and recreational areas.

Further coordinated enforcement initiatives are planned throughout the year.
