Speeder lands not so free ride in a tow truck

In the morning of January 17, 2026, a Pemberton RCMP member conducting speed enforcement on Highway 99. The member observed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. Using the in-car radar system, the member locked the vehicles’ speed at 127 kilometres per hour. A total of 47 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour. The driver was fined $368 dollars and had their vehicle impounded for seven days. The driver was given a ride into Pemberton by the tow truck. 

The Pemberton RCMP is reminding drivers to use road sense when commuting. “Road sense enhances public safety and makes for a less expensive commute.” Says Constable Devin Jarl, Media Relations Officer with the Sea to Sky (Pemberton) RCMP
