On February 24, 2026, the Sea to Sky RCMP (Pemberton Detachment) was advised of a lone snowboarder that was involved in an avalanche in a remote area of Anniversary Glacier, near Mt. Joffre and Mt. Matier.

The Sea to Sky RCMP (Pemberton Detachment) general duty officers along with Pemberton Search and Rescue responded to the area. The avalanche was determined to be a size 3.5, that ran for approximately fifteen hundred metres.  Search teams were deployed, and they located and recovered a deceased male.

The Sea to Sky RCMP (Pemberton Detachment) wishes to express our condolences to the family and loved ones during this difficult time and, out of respect for the family, no further information will be provided at this time.
