Two men are in custody after an armed robbery in Penticton.
On January 30, 2025 at 6:26 p.m., Penticton RCMP responded to a report of a carjacking in the 200 block of Yorkton Avenue. A Penticton resident reported being confronted by two males, one brandishing a firearm, and demanding the victim’s vehicle.
On January 31 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Penticton RCMP officers located the victim’s vehicle in the 1400 block of Main Street and conducted a vehicle stop. Two males, a 25 year-old and 32 year-old were safely taken into custody. Both are from the lower mainland.
“This was a high-risk arrest of two males with one known to be armed”, said Sgt Jason Bayda of the Penticton RCMP. “We are thankful there were no injuries to the victim during the robbery and that the suspects were taken into custody without incident. A firearm was located in the vehicle and no longer poses a risk”.
This incident remains under investigation. Both males will be held in police custody in order to be taken before the courts.
