Charges laid in connection with Dry Creek Park homicide

Charges have been laid in connection with a homicide and investigators continue to seek witnesses to the event.

On August 7, 2025, Port Alberni RCMP members arrested a man for the alleged homicide that occurred in Dry Creek Park on June 16, 2025. The following day, BC Prosecution Service approved a charge of murder against William Shane Watts. Watts remains in custody.

The Port Alberni RCMP General Investigation Section has conduct of the investigation and continues to seek witnesses and/or additional information related to this homicide.
