Prince George RCMP is looking for any witnesses to an attempted theft that occurred on Thursday, March 27, 2025 shortly before 10:00 p.m.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Tenth Avenue and Central Street East, when a woman who was walking in the area was approached by a man who tried to steal her purse and phone.
“The man made several attempts to steal the items from the victim, who began to scream for help. Other people in the area heard the cries and called 9-1-1, at which point the man fled the area. Thankfully, the victim did not suffer any serious injury in this incident,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
Extensive patrols were made in the area for the suspect, but due to the high amount of foot and vehicle traffic in the neighbourhood, the man was not located. Investigators are asking that anyone who witnessed the event or who may have dash camera or video surveillance footage of the incident or of the suspect, please call the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 to speak with an investigator.
The suspect is described as:
- Average build
- Approximately 5’8” (172 cm)
- Short brown hair
- Wearing a red hoodie at the time of the offense
The investigation remains ongoing.
