Prince George RCMP is reminding all residents of the community to celebrate responsibly this holiday season and plan a safe ride home if you find yourself impaired and unable to drive. Impaired driving occurs when you get behind the wheel of a vehicle after consuming alcohol, cannabis, prescription or illegal drugs (and even over-the-counter cold medication) to the point where it impairs your abilities.

In addition to options such as calling a taxi, taking the bus, or using a designated driver, residents in Prince George can also call Operation Red Nose.

This year’s Operation Red Nose Campaign is off and driving! After a successful first weekend, the program will continue Friday and Saturday nights in December, except for December 26 and 27, and will return on New Year’s Eve.

Operation Red Nose is a by-donation confidential ride service, with your donations going to local youth programs.  The program is run by the Rotary Club of Prince George Nechako and supported by ICBC and many generous donors from our business community.  A team of three Red Nose volunteers will pick you up and drive you in your own vehicle to the destination of your choice.  The service is available within the City of Prince George to any person that is not fit to drive their own vehicle for any reason, providing the client has a motor vehicle at the time the service is requested.

During the 2024 holiday season, Operation Red Nose Prince George provided over 400 safe rides home, and this year is expected to be even busier! Please, make the right choice: don’t drive impaired. Users can request a ride by calling 250-962-7433 (RIDE).

Operation Red Nose is still looking for volunteers to help this holiday season! Visit their website below to find out how to become a volunteer.
