Quesnel RCMP investigate contraband cigarettes

On March 28, 2025, the Quesnel RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with the assistance of the North District Emergency Response Team and other members of the Quesnel RCMP, executed a search warrant to a residence in the 2000 block of Red Bluff Road in Quesnel.
The search warrant led to the seizure of:
- 1100 cartons of contraband cigarettes
- $13,185 in Canadian currency
- 21 firearms and ammunition
- 8 lbs of marijuana bud
- 767 grams of Psilocybin (mushrooms)
- 330 grams of Cannabis concentrate
- 15 grams of cocaine.
The investigation is ongoing. Once completed the results of the investigation will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for assessment of appropriate charges.
"The possession and sale of contraband tobacco products is becoming more common,"
said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch. The street value of the seized cigarettes is estimated to be around $220,000."
