Ridge Meadows RCMP is currently on scene investigating a fatal pedestrian motor vehicle incident that occurred in Maple Ridge earlier this morning.
On January 5, 2026, at approximately 5:30am, Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck near the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Laity Street.
The female pedestrian was subsequently transported to hospital by emergency health services but has since succumbed to her injuries.
All eastbound on traffic on Lougheed Hwy between Laity Street and 216th Street is still closed and will be for an indeterminate amount of time.
Police are speaking to the driver of the vehicle, and the investigation is ongoing.
Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has conduct of the investigation with assistance from the Investigative Support Team. The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is also on scene.
