Harbourfront Dr: At 4am a man reported his 2025 Ford F-150 was stolen from a parking area sometime in the last 30 minutes while he was working out at a nearby gym. The man reported there was a set of vehicle keys in the centre console of the truck. The man was able to track the live location of the truck, which was already in Vernon. Vernon RCMP located the truck and arrested the single occupant inside. The file remains under further investigation.

Salmon Arm RCMP have noted an increase in theft from vehicle, and vehicle thefts. These are generally crimes of opportunity. You are more likely to be a victim if you leave valuables in your vehicle, and your vehicle is more likely to be stolen if you leave the keys inside your vehicle when unoccupied.

The driver told the officer she had left her driver’s licence at home. The driver then provided what was later learned to be a false name and birthday. An odour of alcohol was detected coming from the driver. A breath demand was conducted, and the 24-year-old female driver blew a double “fail.” While conducting further investigation to try and confirm the driver’s identity, the officer called out the registered owner’s name to which the driver immediately looked over at the officer and replied “yes.” The driver then confirmed her actual name which showed she was already prohibited from driving. The woman was arrested for obstruction and driving while prohibited. She was released with a future court date to speak to the two criminal charges. The woman was also served a 90-day driving prohibition, a 30-day vehicle impound, and a violation ticket for open liquor in a motor vehicle.
