October 17

Trans Canada Hwy: At 7:40pm Salmon Arm RCMP received a report of a Toyota Camry driving erratically and swerving all over the road. Police located the vehicle eastbound near the intersection at 10th Ave SW. The 27-year-old male driver was presenting with symptoms of being impaired by alcohol, despite denying any alcohol or drug consumption that date. Police conducted a breath demand and obtained a “fail” reading. The driver exercised his right to second test and again blew a “fail”. The driver was prohibited from driving for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The matter was referred to RoadSafety BC.

October 18

20th St SE: At 8:00am a woman reported a man showed up in her driveway saying he’d been attacked by a man with a hammer earlier in the morning. Salmon Arm RCMP attended and spoke with the victim who was presenting with visible injuries to his face, head and hand. The victim reported to police he had met a man known to him with the intent of purchasing a propane heater, when the man suddenly attacked him unprovoked with a hammer. The attack appeared to be targeted as the victim and accused knew each other. Salmon Arm RCMP arrested 29-year-old male Morgan Williams and held him for a bail hearing. Police obtained charge approval for one count assault with a weapon against Morgan Williams, who was later released by a judge on conditions and a future court date.

October 21

42nd St SW: At 7:30pm a man reported someone trying to hide inside a closed impound yard, laying under a pickup truck. Salmon Arm RCMP attended and observed a hole cut in the fence. Police entered the yard and located the man wearing a mask hiding under the pickup truck he allegedly owned, that police impounded the previous night. The man was held for bail hearing before a judge. Police obtained charge approval for break and enter against 44-year-old Michael Wuest. Michael Wuest was released by a judge on conditions and a future court date to speak to the allegations.

October 22

Salmon Arm: A woman reported to police her neighbour was killing her bush, which was de-valuing her house that was for sale. Police attended and spoke with the woman who showed police some bushes that were slightly less green than the ones on the other side of the property. The woman had no evidence to prove her neighbour or anyone else was trying to kill her bush.

October 26

10th St NE: At 8:30am Salmon Arm RCMP attended the local hospital for a woman that had been discharged and was refusing to leave because she felt unsafe. Police attended and discussed with the woman, who was well known to police, what she could do if she felt unsafe. Police did not have any safety concerns for the woman. The woman then departed the hospital and walked across the road to the parking lot. Police followed the woman and observed her pick up a rock and throw it at the windshield of an unoccupied parked vehicle. Police arrested the woman who advised she would continue to commit crime if released. The woman was held for a bail hearing to appear before a judge. Police obtained charge approval for one count mischief against 29-year-old female Chelsea Enns. Chelsea Enns was remanded in custody by a judge. Police were able to locate the registered owner of the vehicle and advise them of the incident.
