In the month of December 2025, Salmon Arm RCMP along with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) conducted two commercial vehicle checks. The purpose of the joint initiative was to target commercial vehicles travelling through Salmon Arm in an unsafe matter.
Both checks took place along the Trans Canada Hwy. On December 8, 2025, twenty-three violation tickets were issued and on December 23, 2025, twenty violation tickets were issued. Tickets given included speeding, failing to slow down or move over near stopped vehicle, unsafe loads, and fail to stop for yellow or red lights. Three commercial vehicles were also removed from the road due to safety issues.
“These checks focused on improving the safety of our roadways by ensuring commercial vehicles are obeying the rules of the road, especially speed limits. The results highlight why proactive enforcement is important and why Salmon Arm RCMP continue to target commercial vehicles daily and not just during planned vehicle checks. Please remember if you see emergency vehicles such as police, ambulance, fire trucks, or tow trucks stopped on the road, you are obligated to slow down and move over,” stated Salmon Arm RCMP media relations officer Cst. Andrew Hodges.
