On March 20, 2026, at 7:30pm Salmon Arm RCMP received a call from a complainant hearing lot of noise, screaming, and groaning from a local hotel room. The complainant updated that a male was heard groaning like he was in pain. Police attended and knocked loudly on the hotel room door but there was no answer despite police hearing the groaning sounds. Hotel staff provided a room key so police could do a wellness check on the guest.
Upon entering the room police were met by a non-local 43-year-old male that was sweating profusely and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The male denied any substance use, then said he had some cocaine. Hotel staff advised the man had to leave the room. At this time police noted large sums of cash, small “dime” baggy zip lock bags, and a large Tupperware container in the hotel room. The man was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking, and all evidence was seized.
Just over 100 grams of suspected cocaine was seized, which has an estimated street value between $7000 - $10 000. Police also seized $1410 in cash and two cell phones from the man.
The man was held overnight to sober up and released the next morning. Salmon Arm RCMP will be forwarding charge recommendations to BC Prosecution.
