Ross St: At 8:45am a store employee reported a company vehicle was stolen earlier that morning and the vehicle had a tracking device. Salmon Arm RCMP reviewed video surveillance which showed a lone individual gain entry through forced access and drive the vehicle away at 6:27am. Live tracking was showing the vehicle around Charcoal Creek FSR. With the assistance of “Air 4” RCMP helicopter, police located the stolen vehicle covered in branches and moss approximately 500m away from an encampment. The vehicle was towed and examined by forensic identification specialists. Police later acquired additional video surveillance and were able to identify a 35-year-old male well known to police as the vehicle thief. Salmon Arm RCMP are recommending multiple charges and will be forwarding the file to BC Prosecution for charge assessment.

Okanagan Ave: At 11:30pm Salmon Arm RCMP observed a red Chevrolet Silverado with Alberta license plate. Police queries showed the registered owner of the vehicle was on a curfew condition that required him to be at home in Alberta at that time. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was confirmed to be the registered owner, who admitted he had come to the area to visit a friend, but otherwise had no reason to be disobeying his curfew condition. The man was arrested for failing to comply with order and transported to cells and held for a bail hearing.
Eagle Bay Rd: At 4:15pm a local hospital staff reported a patient had been struck by a vehicle. Police attended the hospital and spoke with the victim who advised he was out of the country for two months and had house sitters at his residence. When he returned, he found “a lot of damage to the property” and the house sitters had not departed as planned. The victim reported the house sitters attended the property unannounced and began yelling at him from a vehicle as he stood about 3 metres away in front of their vehicle. The driver “gunned it” and drove the vehicle into the victim, making no attempt to stop. The victim bounced off the vehicle into the air and landed on his head, and the vehicle drove away. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by their partner. On April 7 the driver of the vehicle was located, arrested and held for a bail hearing. Salmon Arm RCMP obtained charge approval against 47-year-old Clinton Wells for one count assault, one count utter threat, one count dangerous operation of a conveyance, and one count fail to stop after accident resulting in bodily harm. Clinton Wells was denied bail and held in custody until his next appearance on April 30, 2026.

Tappen: At 8pm Salmon Arm RCMP were conducting pro-active patrols and observed a motor home with passenger vehicle license plates. A traffic stop was conducted, and the 53-year-old male driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license. The driver was released on scene with a future court date to speak to two counts drive while suspected under section 234(1) of the motor vehicle act. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for no insurance.
