Blind Bay: A 69-year-old man reported to Salmon Arm RCMP ongoing issues with his 56-year-old neighbour. The 69-year-old reported that his 56-year-old neighbour uses his hot tub in the nude, and when confronted asking him to cover up, the 56-year-old told him to “f** off.” Police attended and spoke with the 56-year-old. There had been on going issues for years between the neighbours, supported by previous police files. The 56-year-old showed police the steps he’d taken to ensure his backyard was private, which appeared appropriate to police.

Ross St: At 11:30am Salmon Arm RCMP were advised a man was breaching his no contact order. Salmon Arm RCMP attended and observed the man yelling at the person he had a no contact order with. The man was advised he was under arrest and the officer grabbed one arm. The man then swung his free arm at the officer and struck him in the face. He then tried to escape but after realizing he could not break free from the officer’s grip, sat down on the ground and gave up. The 39-year-old man was later released with a future court date for fail to comply with order.

3rd St SW: At 1:30pm a complainant reported a woman slouched over in the driver’s seat of an older Ford F-150; the vehicle was registered to someone in Kelowna. Police located the vehicle and 47-year-old female driver who denied driving. Police observed nearby surveillance footage that showed the female driving the F-150. Police also confirmed the vehicle had just been reported stolen. The woman was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime. She was released on scene with a future court date and was also served a violation ticket for no driver’s licence.

April 24

50th Ave NW: A woman reported finding an unknown 34-year-old woman sleeping in one of her outbuildings, and the woman didn’t know how she got there and wasn’t wearing pants. Salmon Arm RCMP attended and spoke with the woman who said she was drinking the previous night and couldn’t remember what happened. The complainant was not wishing charges, just concerned about the woman’s memory loss. The 34-year-old denied any injury, pain or discomfort, and did not believe she had been assaulted in any way. After realizing police were only trying to determine if she had been the victim of a crime, the woman came forward and said she had got into an argument with family and walked away after consuming several alcoholic beverages. Family searched for her for two hours but never reported to police that night. Video surveillance showed the 34-year-old woman walk alone onto the property at 1am with pants and shirt on, then go into one of the outbuildings equipped with a bed in it. There was no evidence of an assault, and the 34-year-old woman was provided a ride home.
