Information sough after vehicle fled following a collision on the Malahat

Police are investigating a collision and are seeking information after a vehicle fled the scene of a collision on the Trans-Canada Hwy in Mill Bay.

On September 28, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Shawnigan Lake RCMP responded to a collision between two vehicles at the intersection of Trans-Canada Hwy and Nightingale Rd. Early information gathered at the scene revealed that a grey Mazda 3 was travelling northbound on the Trans-Canada Hwy when a white Mercedes Bens SUV, also travelling northbound collided with the Mazda 3. The impact caused the Mazda 3 to spin and hit a light pole and roll onto its passenger side.

The white Mercedes Benz SUV did not stop at the scene of the collision and continued northbound on the Trans-Canada Hwy.  The driver of the Mazda 3 was transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are seeking anyone who has information or has dash-camera footage in that area, prior to the collision that could help identify the suspect vehicle and driver, to contact the Shawnigan Lake RCMP at 250-743-5514.
