Ongoing investigation into 2024 murder

On February 24, 2024, Matthew Monteith, (38), died in a targeted shooting in Sicamous, British Columbia. The British Columbia RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit took conduct of that investigation.

On May 8, 2025 the Southeast District Major Crime Unit executed a residential search warrant in the Auburn Bay area of Calgary, AB, during the course of the investigation into Monteith’s murder.

“We’re asking for anyone with information related to the circumstances of Matthew Monteith’s death to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit,” said S/Sgt. Jason Smart, NCO i/c of SED MCU. “Any information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, may be of great interest to the investigation and help to determine what led to his death.”
