Robbery, Assault with a Weapon: suspect in custody

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with a robbery and assault with a weapon.

On April 2, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Sidney/North Saanich RCMP officers responded to the 1300 block of Stelly’s Cross Rd to check on the well-being of two individuals, a man and a woman. During the course of the investigation, police received information regarding a prior violent incident involving the man who was a subject of the check well-being.

To that effect, police arrested the 34-year-old man and transported him to the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP detachment where he was processed and held in custody. Investigators continued to gather evidence of from the incident reported to them. The man has since been charged with Robbery, Assault with a Weapon, Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. The suspect and the victim are known to each other and police does not believe there are further risk to the public.

No further details are being released at this time as this matter is now before the courts. The individual remains in custody and is set to appear in court on April 15, 2025.
