File # 2025-3041

A man has been arrested following an assault aboard a BC Ferries vessel, prompting an onboard police response and disrupting travel for passengers.

On June 28, 2025, at 7:30 am, the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP responded to a disturbance on board a BC Ferry vessel that was en route to the Swartz Bay Ferries terminal from Tsawwassen, BC. It was reported to police that a male passenger was sprinting around the vehicle deck assaulting staff. Several passengers helped in taking control of the male until police could attend once the vessel had docked at the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal without incident.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP frontline members attended and took the male into custody without incident and was transported back to the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP detachment. The male was then released on conditions and first court appearance date set for September 22, 2025.

The male is facing two counts of assault and one count of mischief.

Police are currently in the evidence-gathering phase of the investigation.
