File # 2025-2880
On August 10, 2025, just after 4:00 AM, the Smithers RCMP responded to reports of two vehicles on fire that were parked at a McElhanney Consulting Services located at 4th Avenue and Queen Street.
Smithers Fire Rescue responded quickly and worked to contain the fire. The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious, and the investigation remains active.
Several local residents reported hearing loud bangs around the time of the fire. These bangs are believed to have been caused by the fire, likely from the vehicles’ fuel tanks or other contents igniting.
The RCMP is requesting assistance from anyone who may have observed anything unusual in the area around the time of the fire. If you were in Smithers or passing through the area at 4:00 AM on Sunday, August 10, and noticed anything out of the ordinary, we encourage you to come forward.
