Sooke RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects where counterfeit currency was exchanged in Sooke.

On December 20, just after 6:00 p.m., two men attended the Chevron gas station located at 6610 Sooke Rd and allegedly conducted a transaction using a counterfeit $100 bill. The incident was reported to police on December 22, 2025.

The first suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian;
  • 20-30 years old;
  • Brown hair with a beard
  • Wearing a black North Face jacket.

The second suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian;
  • 20-30 years old;
  • Wearing a blue/green shirt.

We are asking businesses owners as well as individuals selling private goods to use vigilance when conducting monetary transactions”, said Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the BC RCMP. “We encourage you to familiarize yourself with security features of bank notes or to simply refuse it if it appears suspicious”.
