Business break and enter

On December 22nd, 2025 at 1:15 am police were dispatched to a report of a possible break and enter in progress at a storage facility in Sechelt.  Police responded immediately and arrested one male exiting a storage container.  Police are continuing their investigation.

Residential break and enter

On December 25th, 2025 police were called to a residence on Medusa Place in Sechelt after the complainant noticed his vacationing neighbor's window was open.  Upon entry to the home, police found that multiple rooms in the residence had been rummaged through.  The Sunshine Coast RCMP seized evidence at the scene and are continuing their investigation.

Possession of stolen property

On December 24th, 2025 an off duty police officer reported seeing a stolen e-bike being ridden on Wharf Avenue in Sechelt.  An on duty police officer located a male matching the description and seized the bike after confirming the bike was stolen by checking the serial number.  The bike was returned to the rightful owner.

Fraud

On December 22nd, 2025 a Sechelt resident lost $350 after sending a deposit for the purchase of a dog through a company in Washington.  These types of scams are quite common with the fraudsters ultimately asking for more money for fees for shots, licensing, registration and more.  Checks of this company online found that there had been reports from the public warning the public about this company.  It is important to conduct extensive checks on the validity and reputation of companies before sending money.

Careless use of a firearm

On January 5th, 2026 police arrested one male for careless use and storage of a firearm.  It is alleged that on January 3rd the male was target shooting in his yard with friends, and a stray bullet had gone through a neighbor's window.  It was very fortunate that no one was seriously injured during this incident. Police are continuing their investigation.
