Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 329 calls between August 1 and August 8, 2025. Below are a few highlights of those calls.

Rider of e-scooter stopped for no helmet

On the morning of August 6, a man was observed to be riding an e-scooter but not wearing a helmet on the 4900 block of Highway 16. RCMP conducted a stop with the man in a parking lot and the officer noted a large knife in his waist band. The man was arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and further search revealed drug paraphernalia in his possession. The knife was seized for lawful disposal and following the interaction the man was released. (2025-6423)

Intoxicated man breaching conditions

During the early hours on August 7, Police received a report from staff at the shelter on Tetrault Street of a man who had arrived intoxicated, with alcohol in hand. The man was on conditions not to be at that location and not to have contact with that staff member due to a previous incident of uttering threats. RCMP attended and arrested the man for failure to comply with an undertaking. Upon search of the man police located a knife and additional bottle. The man was taken to Terrace cells to be held and brought before a judge. (2025-6459)

Youths on e-scooters given warning

On August 4 at approximately 3:00 am, police observed two youths riding e-scooters on the road around Highway 16 and Greig Avenue. An officer conducted a traffic stop with the youths and advised them not to be riding on the roadways and of the dangers of doing so. Police would like to remind parents to become familiar with the rules of the road in relation to e-scooters and e-bikes and to help educate their children to keep them safe. Skateboarder hit by vehicle

On the morning of August 8, a vehicle struck a skateboarder near the intersection of Hamer Avenue and Sparks Street. The driver of the vehicle advised that as they were approaching the stop sign eastbound, a man on an electric powered skateboard was travelling north bound on the road facing oncoming traffic and travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver reported that his view of the skateboarder was obstructed by bushes until the last moment. No damage or injuries were reported at the time of police attendance and the skateboarder went to hospital as a precaution. Police are asking the public to familiarize themselves with the lawful use of emerging modes of transportation Emerging modes of personal transportation - Province of British Columbia (2025-6502).
