On October 29, 2025, Terrace RCMP received a report of counterfeit money that had been used at local businesses. One business had taken the fraudulent bills from a man and later realized they were fake. On the same day, a second business reported a man attempting to use counterfeit money, but they did not accept it from him. RCMP seized the counterfeit money from one business and say that all the bills have the same serial number on them and are marked with “Prop Money”.
Police have identified the man and arrested him for possession of counterfeit money and released him with a court date and conditions.
Police are continuing to investigate this matter and intend to submit the results to BC Prosecution Services for consideration of charge approval. The RCMP wants to remind the public, especially business owners, to be aware of this incident and know the signs of counterfeit money. Report any incidents to police and any counterfeit money should be surrendered to police.
