RCMP joint operation leads to gun, stolen items seizure on Warfield property.

File # 2025-2451

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, officers from the Trail, Castlegar, Nelson, and Southeast District RCMP executed a search warrant under Section 487 of the Criminal Code on a property located in the 1300 block of Schofield Highway, in Warfield, BC.

Schofield Highway was closed during this time to ensure public and police safety. Officers secured the property and buildings after five people were taken into police custody. An extensive search was then completed.

Officers seized 24 firearms, firearm related items, a conductive energy weapon, body armour, and a significant amount of stolen property.

A 43-year-old Warfield man remains in custody after a bail hearing before a judge.

Investigators will be forwarding a report to Crown Counsel.

"The investigation was a top priority for the Trail and Castlegar RCMP Detachment as it unfolded. We received incredible support from the Southeast District RCMP which included the Emergency Response Team and Nelson Forensic Identification Section. This investigation will show that crime does not stay within city limits. The RCMP remains committed to making our cities a safer place to be," says Sgt. Wicentowich.

Mischievous teens ringing bells in Fruitvale

File # 2025-2662

On June 27, 2025, at 9:54 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report of a group of teenagers playing Ding-dong ditch in the 1700 block of Columbia Gardens Road, in Fruitvale, BC.

The officer investigated the incident after he spoke to the complainant, and then to a youth that was allegedly associated to the group of teenagers engaged in this activity. The officer recommended to the youth that the activity ceased due to the complaint received.

Please contact the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to report any such incidents to an investigator.

"These ding-dongs definitely ditched after ringing the bell of the complainant as the officer could not locate them. Now that school is out for summer, there will likely be an increase in summer mischief. Please do not take matters into your own hands. Contact the Trail Detachment when this activity is occurring and an officer will intervene and resolve the incident as soon as possible," Says Sgt. Wicentowich.

Woman reports crime, catches self

File # 2025-2689

On June 30, 2025, at 9:28 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about a damage to a vehicle stored at a business, in Genelle, BC.

A 50-year-old Calgary woman reported to an officer that the windows to her vehicle were smashed overnight while it was securely stored on the business property.

An officer investigated the incident. When the officer contacted the business, he learnt that the woman had allegedly threatened to break into the business and her own vehicle after not being allowed to retrieve an item from the vehicle afterhours.

A review of the security video footage allegedly revealed the woman climbing a fence onto the property, breaking all the windows of her vehicle, and retrieving an item from inside before leaving.

When spoken to about the video footage by the officer, the woman declined to proceed further with the investigation.

"The officer discovered the woman had glazed over the truth when her story shattered into pieces. Let’s hope she looks into the window of her soul and learns through the pane of this experience. At least no one was framed in this crime," says Sgt. Wicentowich.
