Trail RCMP and Nelson City Police investigate IED located in Oasis

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 8:44 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District Officers received a report from Nelson City Police that an improvised explosive device located on a rural property on Hanna Drive, in Oasis, BC.
A person had located the IED while looking at a camper trailer that was for sale on the property. The IED was spotted near a pile of abandoned personal items. The person transported the IED to the Nelson City Police Department and turned it over to police. The Nelson City Police Department contacted the Trail RCMP and notified them about the IED.
Trail RCMP officers attended the scene. The officers conducted a search; however, did not locate any other IEDs on the property. The officers consulted with an explosive expert before leaving the property.

“Please do not pick up or transport IEDs. Call 911 and report the incident immediately. The RCMP Explosive Device Unit will attend the scene and dispose of the advice. Handling the device may cause it to accidently detonate,” says Sgt. Wicentowich.
